Ewald Scholz Memorial Scholarship

The Ewald Scholz Memorial Scholarship honors the memory of Ewald Josef Scholz, who helped found the culinary arts program at the El Centro Campus as executive director in 1966. Scholz is considered Dallas’ first celebrity chef. A German-born and European-trained chef, he brought delight to diners from the Cabana Motor Hotel to his Ewald’s at the Stoneleigh Hotel. The scholarship supports students in the Food and Hospitality Institute at the El Centro Campus.

Eligibility Criteria

  • Must be enrolled in the FHI Program at the El Centro Campus during the period of the award.
  • Must major in Culinary Arts, Bakery Pastry, or Food & Hospitality Management.
  • Must have a minimum GPA of 2.0.
  • Must be enrolled in a minimum of 6 credit hours for the period of the award
  • Must have a degree plan on file
  • Must answer the supplemental questions below

This scholarship renews for the spring semester. To receive the spring portion, the recipient must maintain the above requirements. Failure to do so could result in a loss of scholarship benefits.

To qualify for this scholarship you must be enrolled in the required hours by the application deadline.
