El Centro Chess Club Scholarship

The El Centro Campus Chess Club Scholarship was established in 2009 by former El Centro Campus employee and chess club advisor Darrell Cook. The ECC Chess club promotes an interest in Chess among the student body at the El Centro Campus. The organization is committed to helping students learn new critical thinking skills, competitive strategies, and good sportsmanship.

Eligibility Criteria

  • Must be an active member of the El Centro Campus Chess Club
  • Must be a student attending the El Centro Campus during the period of the award
  • Must have a minimum GPA of 2.0
  • Must be in good academic standing.
  • Must be enrolled in a minimum of 6 credit hours for the period of the award
  • Must have completed a minimum of 6 credit hours prior to the period of the award
    • ESSAY REQUIRED*
This scholarship renews for the spring semester. To receive the spring portion, the recipient must maintain the above requirements. Failure to do so could result in a loss of scholarship benefits.
