Marty and Richard Ray Arts Endowed Scholarship

The Marty and Richard Ray Arts Endowed Scholarship was established in 2014 by Dallas College faculty member, Marty Ray and her husband, artist Richard Ray. Their wish is to assist North Lake Campus students who are pursuing a Program of Study and Majoring in Visual Arts. Marty coordinated programs and taught Ceramics & Sculpture at North Lake from 1978-2017 while also juggling life as an active leader in the Dallas Arts community. Richard majored in art and earned an AAS degree through Dallas College; Marty (MFA) & Richard (MA) both continued their art education that led to advanced degrees. Both Marty and Richard are life-long artists with an understanding of the importance of Art for individuals and the community. Many North Lake Art traditions that benefit students were initiated by Marty, including the NLC Art/Computer Graphics Program, the Permanent Art Collection, Student Art Purchase Awards, annual Portfolio Reviews, the WEOTA Art Club and WEOTA Art Awards distributed each spring. Sharing a love for Art, the Rays wish to extend encouragement and financial assistance to students who desire to further their education in any area related to the visual arts.
