Olivia Kerr Memorial Scholarship

The Olivia Kerr Memorial Scholarship was established in 2019 in memory of Olivia Kerr, a former faculty member at the El Centro Campus. Olivia Kerr served as a faculty member for 12 years in the Business, Office Systems and Support (BOSS) instructional area within the Business, Design and Public Service (BDPS) Division. She began teaching at the Brookhaven Campus in 2002 as an adjunct instructor. In 2006, she moved to the El Centro Campus, first as an adjunct instructor and then as a full-time faculty member. Ms. Kerr had over 20 years of experience in the corporate workplace. She won several distinguished awards including the International Top 100 Magazine Honors in Education Award and was selected as a recipient of the Woman of Distinction Award. An active member of the Delta Sigma Theta Sorority, she was recognized as one of the 2018 Distinguished Alumni Honorees by the Bishop College Alumni Association. Loved by her colleagues and her students, Ms. Kerr was an advocate for education and an inspiration to many people, especially her students. She believed that education is a gift that lasts a lifetime and encouraged students to succeed thereafter. To continue her legacy of service, her family established this scholarship in her name to help bridge the gap of the rising cost of education and help students succeed in college.
