Elizabeth Bradford Memorial Scholarship

The Elizabeth Bradford Memorial Scholarship was established in 2017 by Jennifer Shriver of Austin, TX, Julie DeWandel of Boone, NC, and Alicia Truman of Florence, SC in memory of their aunt, Elizabeth Bradford. Additional friends and family contributed to this scholarship as well.

Elizabeth Bradford was raised in Toledo, Ohio. Scholarships allowed her to attend and also graduate from Oberlin College and continue on to Case Western University where she received her degree in Library Science. She worked as a librarian for Brookhaven Community College in Farmers Branch, TX for 20 years where she spent much of her time helping college students with research and finding scholarship opportunities. Because no one resource existed at the time, she compiled scholarship information into a booklet that helped countless students pay for school over the years. It is no wonder that this booklet meant a lot to her. Her parents were both teachers, so schooling was important to her. Her parents had also grown up during the depression, so the lessons they learned about frugality and saving money she realized through this booklet. It is no wonder why we set up this scholarship in her memory as she would have backed it 100%!

This scholarship assists a deserving student whose passion is teaching or library science.
